Minnesota Wraps Up Fall Season with Top Five Finish in Vero Beach

VERO BEACH, Fla. - The Minnesota men's golf team turned in a fifth-place performance during the Quail Valley Collegiate Invitational at the Quail Valley Golf & River Club Monday.
The Golden Gophers finished with an overall score of 20-under-par, including a final round score of 5-over-par (293). Memphis placed first in the team competition with a score of 28-under-par. Individually, Sebastian Gamboa of Florida Gulf Coast carded the best mark of 14-under-par (202) among all players.
Notable Performances:
Sophomore Jack Crousore led the Maroon and Gold with a fantastic score of 9-under-par (207), tying for eighth place among the field. He tallied 14 birdies throughout the tournament, including three in the final round. Crousore's final score set a new career-best, surpassing his previous mark of 7-under-par (209) from the Desert Mountain Collegiate in Mar. 2025.
Senior Jack Wetzel shot even (72), leading the Gophers on the day. He picked up four birdies during the final round, adding to his total of 13 for the event. He collected a final score of 5-under-par (211) over 54 holes, finishing tied for 18th place among all golfers. His final score (211) ties a career-best that he set during the High Meadows Intercollegiate in Apr. 2024. The mark of 5-under-par is a new career-best for his tournament score to par, which was previously at 2-under-par (211) during the High Meadows Intercollegiate.
Sophomore Chun-Ta Wu ended the tournament with a final score of 5-under-par (211), including his third round score of 1-over-par (73). His overall score tied him for 18th place along with Wetzel, marking his first top 20 finish of the season.
Freshman Joe Honsa finished with a score of 1-under-par (215). He registered three birdies in the third round, adding to his total of 13 over 54 holes of golf.
Freshman Torger Ohe penciled a score of 3-over-par (75) during the final 18 holes, ending the tournament with an overall score of 6-over-par (222). He collected eight birdies throughout the event.
