One goal allowed in series sweep
ROSEMONT, Ill. - For the first time this season, a member of the University of Minnesota men's hockey team was named a Big Ten Conference Star of the Week as goaltender Luca Di Pasquo earned the second star, it was announced by the league office Tuesday.
Di Pasquo provided the Golden Gophers with a much-needed boost in goal as the junior stopped 52-of-53 shots he faced to lead the team to a series sweep of Notre Dame, ending a four-game losing streak. He closed the weekend with a 0.50 goals-against average and a .981 save percentage. Di Pasquo recorded his first shutout with the Maroon and Gold, third of his career, on Friday by making 19 saves and also added an assist on the final insurance tally in the third period. It was the first point of his NCAA career.
The Livonia, Mich., native followed that effort by making 33 saves, his second 30-plus save outing of the year, on Saturday in a 4-1 victory. His impressive weekend lowered his season numbers to a 2.19 goals-against average and a .926 save percentage.
Di Pasquo is the first Minnesota representative to land weekly accolades in 2025-26, landing the second honor of his career after being named the First Star of the Week back on Dec. 31, 2024, while at Michigan State. Last season, the Gophers earned 12 B1G Star of the Week honors, the second-most in the conference, and came from all three position groups: forward, defense, and goaltender.
