Jordan Taylor Named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week

CHICAGO, Ill. -- Minnesota freshman middle blocker Jordan Taylor has been named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday.
Taylor averaged 2.13 blocks, 1.00 kills and 2.13 points per set in wins over No. 24 Penn State and Iowa this weekend. She went for five kills on .400 hitting with six blocks (one solo) in a sweep over Penn State on Friday. She followed that up with a career-high 11 blocks with three kills (.333) at Iowa.
This season, Taylor ranks seventh in the Big Ten and leads all freshmen with 1.24 blocks per set.
No. 20 Minnesota (19-8, 9-7 Big Ten) takes on Maryland (8-18, 1-15 Big Ten) Friday night and Rutgers (11-17, 2-14 Big Ten) on Sunday. The Gophers finish the season at home against No. 9 Purdue (22-4, 13-3 Big Ten) and No. 7 Wisconsin (20-4, 13-3 Big Ten) on Nov. 26 and Nov. 28 at home.
