MINNEAPOLIS - University of Minnesota head tennis coach Lois Arterberry announced Massiva Boukirat (Paris, France) as the first signing of the Golden Gophers' 2026-27 class. Boukirat will join the Maroon and Gold in the fall of 2026 after graduating from Ecole Diagnale.
"We are very excited about Massiva joining our team," Arterberry said. "She comes with experience playing at a high level and would bring the championship mindset that we are looking for. She is passionate about the sport and is very hardworking. Collegiate tennis will be a change for her, but with our culture and leadership we will be able to help her transition."
Boukirat has a career-high WTA ranking of 1391 and has competed in professional ITF events including 15k and 35k tournaments. She reached the quarterfinals in an ITF 15k event and has earned a win against a WTA-ranked player (No. 616). Boukirat also competed in Junior Roland Garros, has multiple wins against nationally and internationally ranked players. In addition, she consistently performs well in high-level national tournaments.
"I chose Minnesota because I immediately felt a strong connection with the coaching staff, the players on the team, and the overall environment of the program," Boukirat said. "It will be a perfect place to grow as an athlete and a student."
