Perry, Neels named to D1Baseball Preseason Top 50 Lists

MINNEAPOLIS- Gopher Baseball had two named to the D1Baseball 2025 Preseason Player Rankings: Top 50 list. Senior Jake Perry was named the No. 23 third baseman and junior Weber Neels was named the No. 40 catcher. 
 
Both Minnesota natives had stellar 2024 seasons and are looking to keep that momentum going into 2025. Perry and Neels were just two of three Gophers to appear in all 48 games last season. 
 
Perry slashed .305 (BA)/.398 (OB%)/.557 (SLG%) with nine home runs, 20 doubles, and two triples. He led the team in RBIs (43), walks (30), total bases (113), multi-hit games (18) and multi-RBI games (12). His 20 doubles led the Big Ten during the regular season.  
 
Neels held a .317 batting average, .422 on-base percentage and a .528 slugging percentage in 2024 and tied Perry with a team high 43 RBIs. He also hit eight home runs, tallied 14 doubles and scored 33 runs. 
 
The Gopher baseball team is set to open the 2025 season Feb. 14th at the University of Houston.
