Minnesota Falls to Florida Atlantic 13-4

BOCA RATON, Fla. --The Minnesota Golden Gophers (1-4, 0-0 B1G) struggled on Thursday, falling to the Florida Atlantic Owls (7-0, 0-0 AAC) 13-4 despite the efforts of Taylor Krapf, who went 1-for-1 with a double and two RBI.
Sydney Schwartz (0-3) started and took the loss in the circle for Minnesota (1-4).
HOW IT HAPPENED
Trailing 7-0, the Gophers first put runs on the board in the third inning. Minnesota got an RBI single from Nani Valencia, scoring Lucy Hooper from second base. Valencia has now hit safely in all 5 games to start the 2025 campaign.
The Owls expanded their lead to 13-1 before the Gophers offense got back to work, cutting into that lead in the fifth. Minnesota scored three runs in the frame, buoyed by a two-RBI double from Krapf, which brought the score to 13-4 in favor of the Owls. The ball game ended with that fifth inning rally falling short.
GAME NOTES
» Minnesota's highest scoring inning was the fifth, when it pushed three runs across.
» The 'U' went 3-for-7 (.429) with runners in scoring position.
» Minnesota pitchers faced 29 Florida Atlantic hitters in the game, allowing four ground balls and six fly balls while striking out one.
» Krapf led the Maroon and Gold at the plate, going 1-for-1 with a double, two RBI, and getting hit by a pitch twice.
» Florida Atlantic was led offensively by Ciara Gibson, who went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI.
