Minnesota hit the 197 mark for the third time this season
MINNEAPOLIS -- No. 13 Minnesota gymnastics team defeated the No. 20 Nebraska Cornhuskers on Saturday in their Big Ten home finale at Maturi Pavilion. The Gophers outlasted NU 197.075-196.500. With the victory, the Gophers finished their Big Ten home slate with a perfect 3-0 record. The 'U' will head into the Big 4 Meet next weekend with a shot at winning their first Big Ten regular season title since 2016.
Today's announced attendance was 3,826, the highest total this season.
"It felt pretty incredible in the Pav today," said head coach Jenny Hansen. "We really felt the energy and passion from our fans. Our team keeps getting better and more confident of achieving what they're capable of. We are learning as we go and have some adjustments to make going forward, but we just have to keep making strides."
The Gophers (7-1, 5-1 B1G) earned 49.100 on vault, 49.425 on bars, 49.325 on beam and 49.325 on floor. Nebraska (2-10, 1-5 B1G) went 48.950 on vault, 49.125 on bars, 49.250 on beam and 49.175 on the floor.
Minnesota's 49.425 on bars was a season-best total and the team's highest score on the event since the regional finals in 2024. The team's performance on the event helped them erase a deficit after trailing following vault.
"Our bars were fantastic. We stuck the most dismounts we stuck all year and were better in our casting and everything else. Hopefully our bars team walks away knowing how good we can be going forward."
Mya Hooten took home a solo event title on bars, going a season-best 9.950. It also tied her career-high set in 2024. She also tied for the floor title with Nebraska's Sophia McClelland with a 9.925.
NU's Isabel Sikon won the vault title with a 9.875 while there was a three-way tie on beam with Jordyn Lyden, Ava Stewart and Nebraska's Emma Simpton at 9.900.

VAULT
The Gophers scored a 49.000 as a team, which was its second-lowest total this season. Teryn Crump and Mya Hooten led the way with 9.850s while Megan Steensland came after that with a 9.800. Lauren Pearl and Sarah Moraw rounded out the top five with 9.750s. Minnesota trailed 49.125-49.000 after one rotation.
BARS
Minnesota responded to a tough first rotation with its best performance of the season on bars. The Gophers totaled a 49.425, with their previous best being a 49.250 vs. Washington and Michigan State. Mya Hooten had a season-high 9.950 to earn her second bars title of the season. Ava Stewart was right on her heels with a 9.925, which was a new career-best for her. After that came Jordyn Lyden with a 9.875 and Teryn Crump with a 9.850. McCauley Harrington posted a 9.825 score for spot No. 5. After the second rotation, Minnesota took a 98.425-98.075 lead.
BEAM
Minnesota's beam team tallied a 49.325. Emily Koch started it out with a 9.850 before Ava Stewart's career-high 9.900 set the tone. Jordyn Lyden anchored with a career-best 9.900 while Sarah Moraw went 9.875 and Lauren Pearl earned a 9.800. After three rotations, Minnesota led 147.750-147.250.
FLOOR
The 'U' finished strong on the floor, earning a 49.325 to finish the dual meet victory. Mya Hooten won her seventh straight floor event title with a 9.925 to lead the team while Emily Koch earned a 9.900 for the third time in 2025. Lauren Pearl went 9.875 while Marissa Jencks earned a 9.825 in the lead off spot. Megan Steensland and Leah Gonsiorowski tied with 9.800s.
NOTABLE:
