Patterson, Odukale Score 24 and 22, but No. 23 Illinois Earns Win

Lu'Cye Patterson scored a season-high 24 points and Femi Odukale had a season-high 22, but No. 23/25 Illinois (16-8, 8-6 Big Ten) shot 63.2 percent in a 95-74 win over Minnesota (12-12, 4-9 B1G) at Williams Arena.

Patterson made 9-of-17 field goals and was 6-of-6 at the free throw line for his third 20-point game of the season. He had 20 points versus Ohio State on Jan. 6 and 22 in the win versus Michigan on Jan. 16. Patterson added four assists and a rebound for the Gophers. Odukale notched his 22 points by going 8-of-17, including 4-of-6 from three-point range. He led Minnesota with five assists and added three rebounds and two blocked shots. Dawson Garcia finished with 12 points and six rebounds, while Kadyn Betts made two late three-pointers to finish with six points and Parker Fox had five points and three boards. Minnesota made 27-of-66 (.409) field goals, including 8-of-20 (.400) three-pointers, and 12-of-14 (.857) free throws.

For the game, the Illini made 36-of-57 (.632) attempts, including 9-of-16 (.563) three-pointers, and 14-of-16 (.875) free throws. Odukale made a pair of free throws to reach 20 points, topping his previous season-high of 18 points at Iowa, but Illinois pushed the lead to 28 points. Minnesota closed with an 11-4 run, including five points from Patterson and back-to-back three-pointers by Betts, but Illinois' hot shooting was too much for Minnesota to overcome.
