3/22/2025 4:15:00 PM | Softball

LINCOLN, Neb. --Ā Senior Taylor Krapf notched two extra base hits, but the Minnesota Golden Gophers (13-17, 2-4 B1G) fell to the No. 21 Nebraska Cornhuskers (22-8, 3-1 B1G) 8-3 Saturday.

Junior Sydney Schwartz (4-9) started and took the loss in the circle for Minnesota.

Krapf's two extra base hits were the highlight of a 2-for-4 day, and included two doubles. Senior Kayla Chavez put together a standout performance as well, going 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Senior Nani Valencia also helped out for the Gophers, putting together one hit in four trips to the plate while adding two RBI.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Gophers got on the board immediately, starting their scoring with one run in the top of the first inning. Minnesota got an RBI single from Chavez, scoring Senior Margaret Tobias from third base.

The 'U' lost the lead they built in the first, but got back on the board in the fifth trailing 5-1. Minnesota picked up two runs when a single from Valencia brought home Tobias and Krapf, which tightened the Cornhuskers lead to 5-3. The Gophers were unable to get any closer, as Nebraska added three runs to their tally on the way to an 8-3 final.
