Gophers Receive No. 4 Overall Seed in NCAA Tournament

MINNEAPOLIS - The Golden Gopher women's hockey team received the fourth overall seed in the 2025 NCAA Tournament. No. 4 Minnesota will face No. 5 Colgate after the NCAA unveiled the 11-team bracket for the 2025 National Collegiate Women's Ice Hockey Championship on Sunday morning.

Minnesota and Colgate will play on Saturday, March 15 at Ridder Arena at 2:00 p.m. CT. 

Receiving an at-large bid, Minnesota is making its 22nd overall appearance in the NCAA postseason. The Gophers will look to return to the Frozen Four after last appearing in the event in 2023 - their 15th overall appearance.

Cornell (ECAC Hockey), Penn State (CHA), Sacred Heart (NEWHA), Boston University (Hockey East), and Wisconsin (WCHA) earned the five automatic bids by winning their respective conference tournaments while Clarkson, Colgate, Minnesota, Minnesota Duluth, Ohio State, and St. Lawrence earned at-large bids.

No. 2 Ohio State hosts Penn State/St. Lawrence
No. 3 Cornell hosts Minnesota Duluth/Sacred Heart
No. 4 Minnesota hosts No. 5 Colgate

Quarterfinal competition will take place on the campuses of the four host institutions with the winners advancing to the 2025 Women's Frozen Four on Friday, March 21 and Sunday, March 23 at Ridder Arena in Minneapolis, Minn.
