The University of Minnesota men's basketball team joined together for the first time under head coach Niko Medved on Monday, June 9, 2025. The Golden Gophers moved into on campus housing the previous week and met as a team for the first time Sunday June 8 before holding its first practice on Minnesota's first day of classes on June 9.

Kai Shinholster, the lone freshman on the team, graduated from William Penn Charter School (Philadelphia) Saturday, June 7 and was already on campus the next day.
