MINNEAPOLIS – University of Minnesota Gopher Joey Tepper has been selected for the 2025-26 U.S. National team, as announced by USA Swimming on Monday.
Tepper spent his 2024-25 graduate student season with the Gophers after transferring from the University of Tennessee. The freestyle and individual medley specialist earned his spot to compete in the open water events after his fourth overall finish in the 10k open water event at the 2025 USA 10k National Championship in April and his 12th overall finish in the 10k open water event at the 2025 World Aquatics Championships in July.
"I'm very grateful for all the support I've gotten from Minnesota Athletics towards getting named to my fourth National Team!" said Tepper.
The Egg Harbor Township, N.J. native made an immediate impact on the Minnesota program upon his arrival, rising up the record books to sit at second all time in the 1000 free (8:54.10) and third all time in the 500 free (4:16.30) and 1650 free (14:48.01). After the 2025 season, he was named one of the program's Outstanding Student-Athlete award recipients and was named to the 2025 CSCAA Spring Scholar All American First Team.
The full roster features 54 women and 67 men, spanning from 33 states and 25 universities. The roster is comprised of 121 swimmers from across the nation, based on results from the 2024-2025 swim season, ranging from September 1, 2024-August 31, 2025.
