MINNEAPOLIS- The University of Minnesota tennis team split action at the the Gopher Invitational, held at Baseline Tennis Center, and ITA All-American Championships, in Cary, N.C. Minnesota had three compete in the home event, while an additional three competed in ITAs.

Gopher Invitational Results
The University of Minnesota tennis team competed in day two of the 13th annual Gopher Invitational tournament on Saturday going 2-1 in doubles and 2-0 in singles.

In doubles play, Nora Knezevic and Yinong Ma opened with a 6-2 win over South Dakota's Selena Bird and Kayleigh Didderiens. Anlin Xie and Sofia Pinto withdrew due to injury against Maja Dodik and Elizabete Klavinska (Drake). Knezevic and Ma later earned a tight 7-5 victory over Milwaukee's Nel Van Hout and Nadiia Konieva.

Yinong Ma opened singles play with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Marquette's Emma Davis, and Pinto closed out day two with a 6-2, 6-3 win over North Dakota's Jule Schulte.

ITA All-American Championships
Three Minnesota athletes competed in the pre-qualifying rounds of the ITA All-American Championships on Saturday in Cary, N.C.

In singles play, Aiva Schmitz retired due to injury against North Carolina's Claire Hill, while Mia Liepert fell to Florida State's MaryBoyce Deatherage 6-4, 6-3

Anali Kocevar and Mia Liepert fell to Clemson's Romana Cisovska and Candela Yacora, 1-6, 3-6, in doubles play.

Kocevar and Liepert are guaranteed another match Sunday, with the time to be announced.
