Goalkeeper Sarah Martin made five saves
ANN ARBOR, Mich. - The University of Minnesota women's soccer team (5-5-1, 1-3-1 Big Ten) fell to Michigan (5-6-1, 2-2-1 Big Ten) in a 1-0 loss Sunday afternoon.
The Golden Gophers recorded 11 shots, while goalkeeper Sarah Martin made five saves.
Michigan got on the board in the 25th minute, when Elle Ervin scored on a header off assists from Adi Walick and Vickie Jones.
Minnesota registered two shots on goal before heading into halftime.
Early in the second half, a Michigan defender committed a foul in the 18-yard box, awarding Minnesota a penalty kick in the 48th minute. Paige Kalal took the attempt, but the Wolverines' goalkeeper made the save.
Minnesota saw nine more chances in the second half, out shooting the Wolverines 9-7.
Minnesota returns home Saturday to host No. 20 Wisconsin at Elizabeth Lyle Robbie Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m. CT, with live coverage available on B1G+.
