Lindsey completed 31 passes for 324 yards and three touchdowns in the win
University of Minnesota quarterback Drake Lindsey was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week for his standout performance in Minnesota's 31-28 win against Rutgers on Saturday.
Lindsey completed 31 passes on 41 attempts for 324 yards and three touchdowns, all career-highs, with no interceptions as Minnesota rallied from 14-point deficit to win.
The Gophers trailed 14-0 in the second quarter, marking Saturday as the team's biggest comeback win since a 28-24 win at Nebraska in 2014. In that contest, Minnesota was down 21-7 in the second quarter before rallying. It was the largest comeback win at home since an 18-17 win over Illinois in 1992, a game that saw Minnesota be down 17-3 with 14:56 remaining.
Lindsey is the first Gopher quarterback to have a game with at least that many completions, attempts, yards, and touchdowns, with no interceptions since at least 1995 and his quarterback rating of 166.14 is a career high.
His 31 completions tied for fifth-most in a single game and were the most since Adam Weber completed 31 versus Northern Illinois in 2010. The mark tied Weber for the most as a Gopher at Huntington Bank Stadium.
Lindsey's 324 passing yards were the most since Tanner Morgan threw for 368 yards at Iowa on Nov. 16, 2019, and his three touchdown passes were the most by a Gopher since Max Brosmer had four last year versus Maryland.
The 41 pass attempts were the fourth most by a Gopher in stadium history and the fourth most overall under Fleck. The 41 passes without an interception were the fourth most by a Gopher since at least 1995.
Lindsey is the fifth Minnesota quarterback to be named Big Ten Freshman of the Week and the first since 2022. He is the first Minnesota offensive player to earn the honor since 2023.
