Trio of Gophers Named B1G Golfers to Watch

ROSEMONT, Ill. - Isabella McCauley, Reese McCauley, and Mariana Mesones from the University of Minnesota were named Big Ten Conference Women's Golfers to Watch for 2025-26 it was announced Tuesday.
Isabella McCauley returns for her senior campaign after earning Second Team All-Big Ten honors for the third straight year last season. The Inver Grove Heights Minn., native posted a 72.0 scoring average across 29 rounds a year ago and fired 14 rounds under par. McCauley closed her junior season by earning her third-straight bid to the NCAA Regionals as an individual qualifier.
Sophomore Reese McCauley enters the 2025-26 season with a year of experience under her belt. During her freshman season, she competed in all 10 team events for the Golden Gophers. She had a scoring average of 74.7, which ranked third on the team. The Minnesota native carded a career low 7-under-par 65 at the Ron Moore Intercollegiate.
Mariana Mesones finished second on the team with a 73.4 scoring average thanks to nine rounds under par as a sophomore a year ago. A native of Trujillo, Peru, she placed inside the top 20 six times in 10 events for the Maroon and Gold. She fired her lowest round of the year during the ANNIKA Intercollegiate and Westbrook Invitational with a 3-under-par 69.
Minnesota, under the direction of second-year head coach Matt Higgins, began the 2025-26 season this week at the ANNIKA Intercollegiate hosted at The Royal Golf Club from Sept. 8-10.
