Dundon and Nabwe Lead the Way at Graduate Classic

MINNEAPOLIS – The University of Minnesota track and field team completed the Graduate Classic in Lincoln, Neb., and picked up five victories over the two-day competition. Zoie Dundon won both the women's mile and the 800m while Anthonett Nabwe was victorious in the women's weight throw and posted a season best in the shot put.
Dundon's weekend started with the mile on Friday, posting a lifetime best 4:38.77 to win the event and in the process ran to No. 3 all-time on the program's top 10 list. Dundon is now the sixth Gopher to go below 4:39 in the indoor mile. On Saturday in the 800m Dundon ran to a win in a time of 2:06.65, improving on her previous lifetime best (2:06.70) that still has her at No. 8 all-time at Minnesota.
In the women's weight throw it was the two-time Big Ten champion Nabwe remaining undefeated this year with a mark of 23.26m (76-3 3/4) to hold off teammate, and fellow All-American, Hadley Streit at 22.02m (72-3). The Liberian international came back on Saturday to finish as the Graduate Classic runner-up in a seasons-best effort of 16.86m (55-3 3/4).
Victory Godah also picked up a pair of wins for the Maroon and Gold in Lincoln. The Nigerian won both the 60m (7.52) and the 200m (24.45) for the 'U' while Ellie Kuechle won the women's 600m in a lifetime best performance of 1:32.48.
Following the Graduate Classic the Maroon and Gold continue their competition schedule away from home with a trip to Lubbock, Texas to the Stan Scott Invitational on January 23. On Saturday January 24, Minnesota is scheduled to have student-athletes competing in St. Paul at Macalester College at the Vanessa Seljeskog Classic.
