The two-day meet begins Friday and concludes Saturday in Arkansas.

MINNEAPOLIS -- The University of Minnesota women's track and field team is headed to its final regular season road test at the Tyson Invitational, in Faytteville, Ark., from February 13-14. The two-day meet is the penultimate regular season indoor meet for the Maroon and Gold.

ABOUT THE TYSON INVITATIONAL
The 2026 Tyson Invitational will be contested over two days at the Randal Tyson Track Center, with action starting at 1 p.m. on Friday with the 60m prelims. Saturday's schedule begins at 10:30 a.m. CT with pole vault, with the meet wrapping up around 3:40 p.m. CT with the 4x400m relay. Fans will be able to watch the event live on SEC Network+, via ESPN. FlashResults.com will provide live results throughout the competition in Arkansas.

LAST TIME OUT - FAIRGROUNDS INVITE AND GOPHER CLASSIC
The University of Minnesota saw a number of high-level performances go down between Minneapolis at the Gopher Classic and Indianapolis at the Fairgrounds Invitational. Kitania Headley and Zariah Greaves both etched their names on top 10 lists at Minnesota on February 6, while a number of unattached student-athletes had outstanding performances on Feburary 7.

The Fairgrounds Invite began on February 6, at Fall River Pavilion in Indianapolis, the same location as the 2026 Big Ten Indoor Championships later in February. Greaves produced her 7.47 in the final of the 60m where she captured third overall out of lane seven. Greaves tied herself with Kadian Douglas, who set the same 7.47 time back in 2006 for the Maroon and Gold. Kitania Headley was the second Gopher to produce a lifetime best in Indianapolis. Headley clocked a 1:30.47 to claim the win at the meet and improve her No. 8 all-time spot in the event at the 'U'. The sophomore's sub 1:31 time in the 600m makes her the fourth Gopher to do so since 2021.

Back at the University Fieldhouse in Minneapolis, it was Sofia Condon (3.92m | 12-10 1/4) who picked up a victory in the pole vault while 10 other Gophers claimed wins as unattached student-athletes. One of the highlights of the day came from Charles Godfred in both the long jump and the 60m. Godfred, a two-time outdoor Big Ten long jump champion, set a new University Fieldhouse record of 7.93m (26-0 1/4) to win the competition. Earlier in the 60m preliminaries, the Nigerian clocked a 6.61 to hold the top spot out of the qualification round, a lifetime best in the event for Godfred by 0.01 seconds.

Fellow Nigerian Precious Opinion had a stellar jump series of his own in the triple jump. The second-year Gopher put forth multiple lifetime bests on his way to a final leap of 15.80m (51-10) to win the Gopher Classic. The nearly 52-foot triple jump would rank him sixth all-time on the Maroon and Gold's outdoor top-10 list in the event.

MINNESOTA IN THE NATIONAL RANKINGS
The University of Minnesota women's track and field team came in at No. 21 in the third 2026 U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) national rankings, the organization announced on February 10. Minnesota's No. 21 ranking comes a week after the team was No. 18, which was the best indoor ranking for the women since 2021, when the squad was also No. 18. That season Minnesota went on to finish 24th as a team at the 2021 NCAA Indoor Championships in Fayetteville, Ark.

The Maroon and Gold also had four different events that were recognized in the latest Event Squad rankings, which measures the cumulative depth of a team's top athletes in specific disciplines.  The women's team had four different event groups that were ranked inside the top 20 nationally, highlighted by the No. 2 weight throw contingent of Anthonett NabweHadley StreitRejoice Agbewodie and Ella Pavlovich (21.36m average) with Nabwe leading the way with the No. 1 NCAA mark at 24.28m (79-8). Ali Weimer and Zoie Dundon led the way for Minnesota's 5000m (16:21.52 average) and 800m (2:08.81 average) groups that come in at No. 11 and No. 16 nationally. Lastly the quartet of Nabwe, Rejoice AgbewodieIsabelle Schmidt and Kennedy Martinson are ranked No. 18 nationally in the shot put.

UP NEXT
The final regular season indoor competition for the Golden Gophers will be at the Snowshoe Open on February 20. The men's track and field team will begin their outdoor campaign on March 6-7 at the Beach Opener, in Long Beach, Calif.
