Ostrum and Lyden Again Earn B1G Weekly Honors

Ostrum is freshman, Lyden event specialist of the week
CHICAGO, Ill. -- Gophers freshman Arianna Ostrum was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week, the conference announced today. It was her third straight week winning the award. Junior Jordyn Lyden has been named Big Ten Co-Event Specialist of the Week for the second time this year.
The dynamic duo helped Minnesota to its fourth best score in program history, earning a 197.825 in a senior day win over Iowa, Illinois and Northern Illinois.
Ostrum posted a career-best 39.675 all-around score, winning her third straight all-around title. Her 39.675 all-around score tied for the eighth-highest in program history and the best in program laurels for a Minnesota freshman.
She registered a perfect 10 on vault, the Gophers first 10 on the event since Maddie Quarles in 2023. Her score aided Minnesota to a season-best 49.450 vault score. She then earned a 9.825 on bars and 9.875 on beam. Ostrum tallied a career-best 9.975 on the floor, taking home an event title. It was her first time winning all-around, vault and floor titles in a single meet. She became the second Gopher freshman in history to earn a perfect vault (Carolyn Yernberg, '02).
Ostrum won Big Ten Co-Gymnast and Freshman of the Week on March 3 and Freshman of the Week on March 10. She leads Minnesota with 12 total event titles, including three on all-around, four each on vault and floor and one on bars.
Jordyn Lyden had another stellar week for the Maroon and Gold, winning two event titles and taking home her second weekly award of 2026. She won her fifth uneven bars event title of the year with a season-best score of 9.950. Lyden then went out and notched a 9.950 to win her second beam title of 2026. She finished the afternoon with a 9.875 floor score.
No. 13 Minnesota (12-4, 7-2 B1G) is back in action Saturday, March 21 in the Big Ten Championships in Champaign, Ill. The meet is at 5 p.m. CT on BTN.
