Gophers’ Mesones Named B1G Golfer of the Week

ROSEMONT, Ill. – Minnesota junior Luisamariana Mesones was named Big Ten Conference Golfer of the Week on Friday, the league announced. It is her first time taking home the award this season and third in her career after back-to-back recognitions in 2022.
"Mariana has been competing at a high level all spring," said head coach Matt Higgins. "She has really stepped up her game this year through a lot of hard work and confidence. So proud that she has been recognized this week!"
Mesones finished third at the Valspar Augusta Invitational with a tournament score of 70-72-71—213 (-3), her second-straight top-three performance. Mesones capped off the third round of play with an eagle on the ninth hole. She shot par-or-better on 48 of 54 holes at the Forest Hills Golf Course in Augusta, Ga. She led Minnesota a fifth-place team finish by tying for third in a field of 88 golfers.
