‘U’ Wraps Up Day One in Ninth Place at Hoosier Collegiate Invitational

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Minnesota men's golf team is tied for ninth place after the first day of the Hoosier Collegiate Invitational. The second round was suspended due to darkness on Saturday evening.

The Golden Gophers have a team score of 30-over-par, tying with Maryland and Indiana at the edge of the top 10. The team shot 21-over-par during the first round. The Maroon and Gold has a second-round score of 9-over-par through 14 completed holes.

Kansas and Purdue sit tied for first place with a score of 3-over-par. Four golfers sit atop the leaderboard with matching scores of 1-under-par. 

Notable Performances: 
Sophomore Chun-Ta Wu led the Gophers with a score of 4-over-par. He currently has an even-par round going in the second round, tying for 22nd place among the field. 

Freshmen Torger Ohe and Joe Honsa are tied for 49th place with matching scores of 9-over-par. Ohe shot 4-over-par (75) during the first round, picking up one birdie. Honsa has a second-round score of 2-over-par, recording four birdies throughout his first 31 holes of golf. 

Senior Cormac Sharpe penciled a score of 10-over-par, including a second-round mark of 2-over-par. He is tied for 58th place among all golfers.

Senior Jack Wetzel registered a score of 12-over-par as an individual, collecting two birdies.

Reigning Big Ten Conference Golfer of the Week, sophomore Jack Crousore carded a mark of 13-over-par on the day, tying for 73rd overall.
