MINNEAPOLIS – University of Minnesota head women's hockey head coach Greg "Boom" May announced a series of staff updates that will shape the program heading into the 2026–27 campaign.
"I am so excited about the talent that we have put together with this staff," said May. "We were able to bring in a group of individuals who have a serious drive and competitiveness to them, as well as a work ethic that is tough to match. The energy these coaches have is contagious, and the experience they bring in developing players, as well as their own high-level collegiate and professional experience as players, will be so impactful for our team."
Minnesota has elevated Jess Scott to General Manager while adding Marty Sertich, Winny Brodt Brown, and Amanda Leveille as assistant coaches.
Jess Scott | General Manager
Scott was promoted to General Manager in August 2025, becoming the first general manager in NCAA women's hockey history. She has been a key figure for Minnesota, helping guide the Gophers to two Frozen Four appearances and a WCHA tournament title since joining the staff in 2019.
Prior to her time with Minnesota, Scott served as head coach at Wayzata High School, earning Class AA Coach of the Year honors in 2018. She also held leadership roles within the Minnesota Girls Hockey Coaches Association and gained international experience with USA Hockey, serving as Director of Hockey Operations for the U18 Women's National Team. A Coon Rapids, Minn., native, Scott brings over 15 years of experience in athletic administration to her expanded role.
Marty Sertich | Assistant Coach
Sertich joins the Gophers after nine seasons as an assistant coach at St. Thomas, where he played a key role in both the program's success at the Division III level and its transition to Division I competition. He helped guide the Tommies to a Frozen Four appearance, multiple MIAC championships, and recognition as the AHCA Division III Women's Staff of the Year in 2019 before helping lay the foundation for the program's move to the WCHA.
A highly accomplished player in college hockey, Sertich won the Hobey Baker Award in 2005 at Colorado College, along with earning USCHO Player of the Year and All-America honors. Following his collegiate career, he went on to play 10 professional seasons across the American Hockey League (AHL), Germany's Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL), and Switzerland's National League (NLA/NLB).
In addition to his collegiate coaching experience, Sertich founded and operates Tradition Hockey, a development program focused on training athletes from youth through elite levels, and has gained international experience as a skills coach for the Chinese Women's National Team.
Winny Brodt Brown | Assistant Coach
