MINNEAPOLIS — The University of Minnesota tennis team was recognized by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association with All-Academic Team distinction, announced today by the organization. The ITA All-Academic Team recognizes women's tennis programs that completed the 2025-26 academic year with a cumulative team GPA of 3.2 or above.
In order to earn an ITA All-Academic Team distinction award, Division I institutions must include all student-athletes that are listed on the institutional eligibility form. All varsity letter winners also should be factored into the cumulative team GPA for the 2025-26 season. Over 1,500 Division I women's student-athletes were named ITA Scholar-Athletes, and 231 women's tennis programs were awarded the All-Academic Team distinction for 2025-26.
The ITA also recognized Scholar-Athletes. To be named an ITA Scholar-Athlete a student-athlete must have a grade point average of 3.5 or above for the 2025-26 season, and must be listed on the institutional eligibility form. This included the following from Gopher tennis: Yinong Ma, Sofia Pinto, Mia Lipert, Anali Kocevar, Jeselle Ante, Arina Valitova, Aiva Schmitz, Deniz Turan, and Anlin Xie.
Looking ahead: Kocevar, Ante, Xie, and Liepert plan to return for the 2026-27 season. With their leadership, talent, and experience returning, the Gophers will enter next season with a strong foundation.
