Twice an All-Big Ten running back for the Golden Gophers, Marion Barber, Jr., was his team’s MVP.
At Minnesota, Barber gained a career rushing yardage total of 3,094 yards, averaging 4.7 yard per carry, and scored 34 touchdowns. Dangerous on returns, too, he added 700 all-purpose yards to his tally.
The Detroit native played for seven seasons for the NFL New York Jets, from 1982 to 1989.
