When Minnesota won its second Big Ten golf championship in 1938, Neil Croonquist was a key member of the squad.

Captain of the 1938 and 1939 teams, he played in four NCAA tournaments and was crowned Minnesota State Amateur champion in 1941 – and again, in 1960.

Croonquist, who was low amateur at the Keller Golf Course National Open, also qualified and played in 12 United States Golf Association tournaments, one British Amateur tourney, and three USGA and Canadian Opens.
