HOF Class of 2005

Bill Crumley was a member of the Golden Gopher staff for 17 years, from 1985 to 2002. He served as a student football manager for Dick “Matty” Mattson when Lou Holtz and then John Gutekunst were head coaches.

After earning his Minnesota undergraduate degree, Crumley became a graduate assistant in the Gopher men’s sports information office in 1989. A year later he was hired as a full-time assistant in the SID office and became director of media relations for the Gophers in 2000, a position he held until taking a job as director of marketing & communications at Madden’s Resort near Brainerd.

Bill earned a varsity “M” letter as a student manager in 1987, but never received his letter jacket. It was presented posthumously to his family in 2005.
