A starter at first base for the Golden Gopher baseball team in 1962, 1963 and 1964, Bill Davis was named to the All-American second team in 1964, and to that year’s College World Series all-tournament team when the Gophers claimed the NCAA championship.
Davis also played basketball for Minnesota from 1961 to 1964, serving as the team captain and named team MVP.
He also won the Big Ten Conference Medal of Honor in 1963, in recognition of athletic and scholastic achievement.
