Football, 1959-61
HOF Class of 1995
Halfback Judge Dickson lettered three times for the Golden Gophers and was a key member of the 1960 team that captured the Big Ten title and the national championship.
The Clairton, PA native also helped lead Minnesota to its 1962 Rose Bowl over UCLA at the end of the 1961 season.
Dickson, a 1961 first-team Academic All-Big Ten selection and second-team Academic All-American, was drafted by the NFL’s St. Louis Cardinals and AFL’s New York Titans (later the New York Jets).
After a successful career with IBM, Dickson served as co-chair, with former teammate Bobby Bell, of “Building Bridges,” the Sandy Stephens Scholarship Fund. Dickson and Stephens were childhood friends in Pennsylvania.
