Bud Ericksen was a three-time All-American swimmer at the University of Minnesota.
In 1963 he was a key member of the Big Ten and NCAA championship medley relay team, which set two American records. A Big Ten and NCAA finalist in all three years 1962 to 1964, he was the Gophers’ 1964 team captain.
Ericksen returned to the University in 1975 as head coach of the swimming & diving team, a post he would hold for six seasons. He produced many all-conference and All-American swimmers, and elevated the program to top-four in the Big Ten and top-20 nationally. He was inducted into the U of M Aquatics Hall of Fame in 1986.
