One of the greatest Gopher athletes ever, Denise Erstad-Falls is the only Gopher, male or female, to compete in four separate national championships in three different sports -- volleyball in 1974, softball in 1976 and 1978, and basketball in 1977.

Erstad-Falls was also a member of the third-place softball team in the AIAW College World Series in 1978, and the Minnesota state AIAW championship volleyball team that finished as the runner-up in the AIAW Region VI tournament.

The eight-time letterwinner was also a four-time Minnesota state AIAW champion. She is a member of the Golden Spikes Volleyball Hall of Fame, and was voted onto the University of Minnesota Women’s Athletics All-Decade Team for the 1970s.
