Burnsville native Sue Roell Grimm capped off her Minnesota career with 1987 NCAA All-American honors in the 100-yard breaststroke for a fourth-place finish at the national championships.
The team co-captain led the Gophers to their fourth consecutive second-place finish at the Big Ten Championships that year, setting Big Ten records in the 100-yard breastroke and as part of the 200 medley and 400 freestyle relay teams.
Grimm swam on eight Big Ten Championship relay teams and was twice the Big Ten 100-yard breaststroke champion. She won at least one Big Ten title, and swam in the NCAA meet, each year of her career. At graduation, she held five school records.
