1964-66

A silky-smooth shooter, “Sweet Lou” Hudson was an All-American and first-team All-Big Ten selection in 1965, when he averaged 24.8 points and 10.7 rebounds per game to lead the Golden Gophers to a second-place finish in the Big Ten.

Even more impressively, Hudson led the Gophers' charge for the Big Ten title the next year with a cast on his shooting hand, still averaging 19.0 points and 7. 5 rebounds per game.

The Greensboro, NC, native finished his career in Gold Country with 1,329 career points. He posted career averages of 20.4 points and 8.9 rebounds per game.

Selected fourth overall in the 1966 NBA draft by the St. Louis Hawks, he averaged 18.4 points per game as a rookie. He later played for the Lakers, and over an 11-year NBA career the six-time All-Star amassed 17,980 career points and finished 12th on the NBA's all-time scoring list.

In 1994, Hudson’s No. 14 Gopher jersey was retired.
