An All-Big Ten and All-American end for the Gophers in 1971, Doug Kingsriter led the team in receptions that year -- and the one before and the one after it.

An outstanding student-athlete, he also earned Academic All-Big Ten and Academic All-America honors in the 1971-72 season. He won the U of M President’s Cup in 1972, was named Fellowship of Christian Athletics College Athlete of the Year in 1973, and won an NCAA Post Graduate Scholarship.

He played in the North-South All-Star game after his senior season.

Drafted in the sixth round by the NFL’s Minnesota Vikings in 1973, Kingsriter played three seasons for that team, including Super Bowls XIII and IX.
