Women’s Swimming & Diving, 1990-94
HOF Class of 2000
The most decorated female diver in Minnesota history, Laurie Nelson was an All-American who earned four consecutive platform diving awards as a Gopher.
Nelson became one of the first Gophers to earn All-American diving honors when she placed fifth in the platform diving competition at her first NCAA Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships, in 1990.
As a sophomore, she earned All-America status in all three of her events, with Big Ten championships in 1 meter, 3 meter and platform diving.
She set school records for each diving event in which she competed, and was later honored as an NCAA Woman of the Year state winner.
