Jim McIntyre became Minnesota’s first back-to-back All-American roundballer in more than a decade when he received the consensus honor in 1948 and 1949. He also achieved All-Big Ten status in 1947, 1948 and 1949.
McIntyre scored 1,223 points in his Gopher career, at an average of 15.1 points per game. He set West Conference records for most career points in all games, most career points in conference games (648) and most points for three years in conference play (580).
He played in the 1949 All-Star game and was drafted by the NBA’s Rochester Royals that year. He instead chose to play in the semi-professional National Industrial League.
