One of the fastest skaters ever at the University of Minnesota, Corey Millen’s name appeared often in the school’s record book. The Cloquet, Minn., native ranked third all-time in points with 241, third in goals with 119, and seventh in assists with 122 – all despite a knee injury that sidelined him during his freshman season.
Millen led his team in scoring in the 1986 and 1987 seasons, was team MVP in 1986, and was captain of the 1987 team. Both of those teams – 1986 and 1987 – appeared in the NCAA Frozen Four
Winning second team All-WCHA and All-American honors, Millen was also an outstanding international player, representing the U.S. as a member of the 1984 and 1988 Olympic teams.
After graduating, Millen played professional hockey for 14 seasons, in the NHL and in Europe. In the NHL he played with the New York Rangers, Los Angeles Kings, New Jersey Devils, Dallas Stars and Calgary Flames, finishing his career in the league with 90 goals and 119 assists, for 209 career points in 335 games.
