HOF Class of 1993
Jerry Noyce was a three-time All-Big Ten tennis star for the Golden Gophers (1964-66), team MVP those same three seasons, and team captain as a senior in 1966.
He returned to Minnesota in 1973 as the team’s head coach, building a booster club and support system from the ground up. His work is reflected in the program’s full endowment and new indoor tennis center.
In 16 seasons, Noyce guided the Gophers to Big Ten team championships in 1981, 1984 and 1986, and into five NCAA tournaments. He also coached 13 Big Ten singles champions, four doubles champions and numerous runners-up. In all, he mentored 27 all-conference players and three All-Americans.
He was named Division I Coach of the Year by the Intercollegiate Tennis Coaches Association, and 1977 NCAA Coach of the Year. A member of the USTA Northern Hall of Fame, he served on President George W. Bush’s Council on Sports and Fitness.
Noyce became CEO of Health Fitness Corp., a firm that develops, manages and markets fitness centers for corporations, hospitals, universities and communities.
