Ron Johnson earned All-Big Ten honors in 1959 and 1960, and was named an All-American in 1960. The 6-8 forward from New Prague, MN was also named the Gophers’ MVP in the latter year.

Johnson, who averaged 21.1 points per game in 1960, finished his Gopher career with 1,335 points. He set the single-game record for most field goals made in a game, with 18.

Drafted in the second round of the NBA by Detroit in 1960, Johnson played one season before retiring.
