Ray Williams may have played for just two seasons with the Golden Gophers, but he left his mark on its history.

The junior college transfer earned team MVP honors in 1976, and became an All-American in 1977. The 6-3 guard finished his career at Minnesota with impressive 18.9-point and 5.7 assist and 6.6-rebound per game averages.

Williams was drafted by the New York Knicks in the first round, tenth overall, in the 1977 NBA draft. He played for 10 seasons in the NBA, averaging an impressive 15.1 points, 5.8 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game.
