Trent Tucker, one of the best guards ever to play for the basketball Golden Gophers, earned All-American honors in 1982, when he helped lead them to the Big Ten title and the NCAA tournament.

The 6-5 guard scored 1,445 points in his three seasons playing for Minnesota, at a rate of 12.6 points per game. He added 153 career steals and a .499 career field goal percentage, both top-10 figures.

Tucker was drafted in the first round, sixth overall, by the New York Knicks in 1982. He played 11 seasons in the NBA, nine with the Knicks and one each with the San Antonio Spurs and Chicago Bulls. As a pro, he averaged 8.3 points, 2.0 assists and 2.0 rebounds per game.

The Gophers retired his jersey in 2010.
