Eat Smart, Play Hard
Program Overview:
The Eat Smart Play Hard program created by the Student-Athlete Development Department is intended to educate youth on the benefits of living a healthy and active lifestyle. The goal is to take this program out to schools and youth groups and have Gopher student-athletes discuss and demonstrate what healthy eating and physical activity looks like in a fun and entertaining style. Through an interactive PowerPoint presentation, tips about healthy meals and snacks are given, as well as defining physical activity in a way that the youth can relate. The finale to the presentation is a choreographed dance where everyone in the gym or classroom is encouraged to get up and follow along, led by the student-athletes! Also, every participant will get a healthy snack on their way out, sponsored by Cub Foods, so by the end of the program the children have experienced first-hand eating smart and playing hard.
