2024 NHL DRAFT CLASS
ERIK PÅHLSSON
DRAFTED: 7th Round | No. 213 Overall | Nashville Predators
6-1 | 185 | Forward
HOMETOWN: Landskrona, Sweden
LAST YEAR: Dubuque Fighting Saints (USHL)
WHAT THEY'RE SAYING ABOUT ERIK:
"Påhlsson is a credible off-puck scoring threat with some creativity and defensive value. The puck follows him across the rink thanks to his supporting movements, timed drives, and knack for slipping away from the defense."
-Elite Prospects
"Third year eligible Swedish forward is a slick skating skilled center who took charge of Dubuque’s offense with his arrival to North America, after leading HV-71 J-20 to the top of their league. Has pro size, skill, and vision and is a legitimate prospect with quick hands and a crafty repertoire that makes him tough to defend, along with quick hands and the IQ to know when to hold pucks long enough to open shooting /passing lanes."
-Bill Placzek, Lines
JOHN WHIPPLE
DRAFTED: 5th Round | No. 144 Overall | Detroit Red Wings
6-2 | 195 | Defense
HOMETOWN: Minnetonka, MN
LAST YEAR: USA Hockey National Team Development Program
WHAT THEY'RE SAYING ABOUT JOHN:
"Whipple generates significant power on the backpedal and maintains his speed through pivots, making him a strong rush defender. He forces attacks wide, then explodes across and hammers the opponent into the boards. Aggressive net-front defense and flashes of deceptive, fast retrievals give him lots of defensive versatility."
-Elite Prospects
"Plays with pace. Simple with the puck. Outlets and lets the forwards got to work. Hard to play against defensively. Closes on opponents and battles hard to win pucks / keep the play to the perimeter. Plays with an edge - at times crossing the line with his aggression - but there is no easy ice for opponents when he is defending his zone. The kind of defender a coach will rely on to match up against middle six forwards and roll over the boards on the PK."
-Cap Friendly
BRODIE ZIEMER
DRAFTED: 3rd Round | No. 71 Overall | Buffalo Sabres
5-11 | 195 | Forward
HOMETOWN: Chaska, MN
LAST YEAR: USA Hockey National Team Development Program
WHAT THEY'RE SAYING ABOUT BRODIE:
"With Ziemer, puck touches are short, but numerous. He plays the short-range, give-and-go passing game, but also finds the cross-slot threats. Inside space, he deceives defenders. Without it, he deftly redirects passes through opponents into space."
-Elite Prospects
"Standing at 5-foot-11, 192 pounds, Brodie Ziemer is becoming increasingly adept at using his physicality on the ice. Ziemer has displayed numerous standout performances, outshining his teammates at times and demonstrating his potential to dominate the puck."
