Laurie (Kaiser) Sund was a pioneer in Gopher gymnastics, becoming the first three-time All-Big Ten selection in school history, all on the first team. The Plymouth, Minn., native and Armstrong High School alum broke a school record in every individual event over the course of her career from 1983-86. Kaiser Sund won the Big Ten vault and floor exercise as a sophomore in 1984 and the floor exercise as a senior in 1986. Named the team's most valuable performer in 1984, Kaiser Sund was also a multiple-time Big Ten Gymnast of the Month. She also competed at the University World Games trials in the all-around. Kaiser was also inducted into Minnesota's gymnastics hall of fame in 2003.
