2025-26 Wrestling Year in Review

>> Minnesota finished 2025-26 with a 11-5 record including a 5-3 mark in Big Ten duals. The Gophers finished seventh at the Big Ten Championships and ninth at the NCAA Championships. It was Minnesota's fifth top-10 finish at nationals under head coach Brandon Eggum.
>> Sophomore Max McEnelly upset top-ranked Rocco Welsh, 4-3, to become the 19th Gopher and first since 2022 to win the NCAA Championship. The two-time All-American was 24-2 on the season with a 15-1 record in dual meets.
>> In addition to McEnelly, sixth-year senior Andrew Sparks and senior Jore Volk earned All-America honors. Seeded 13th at 165 pounds, Sparks became a first-time All-American as he finished his career with a fifth-place showing. Volk wrapped up his one and only season with the Gophers with a seventh-place finish at 125 pounds.
>> Minnesota earned its biggest of the win of the season with a 21-16 upset of No. 4 Iowa in Carver-Hawkeye Arena on January 30. The win snapped an 11-game losing streak in the series and was the first in Iowa City since 2014.
