Andy Hanson

Andy Hanson joined the University of Minnesota in June 2021. He currently serves as the Assistant Director of Player Personnel for Gopher football. In this role, Hanson assesses the current roster and scouts players to fit identified needs, with regional focus on Midwest prospects. 

Hanson comes to Minnesota after founding the 33rd Team with Mike Tannenbaum, a company that was developed to study analytics and scouting with former NFL/NCAA executives and coaches who want to mentor and teach students who aspire to work in football. He also worked as an independent consultant with Harlan Sports Management where he conducted data analysis and research to develop presentations to support contract negotiations for NCAA football clientele. 

Hanson’s career in the football industry started as an Intern with the UMass Minutemen Athletic Department where he assisted the offensive line coach with player-personnel activities including scouting offensive line prospects. He also developed programs to prepare athletes for academics, life after sports and integration into the workforce. 

Hanson graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Rhode Island in 2009 where he also played football for the Rams. He earned his master’s degree in sports management from the University of Massachusetts in 2019.
