JJ Wahlquist joined the University of Minnesota creative staff in June 2021. He serves as the Creative Director for Gopher Football.
Prior to arriving at Minnesota, Wahlquist was a Graphic Designer for the Mississippi State Football team for one season and had a brief stint as the Football Graphic Designer at the University of Oregon. With the Ducks, Walquist oversaw recruiting content and social media graphics, while collaborating with the coaching staff to expand the visual identity of the team. He also spent time as an Athletic Department Graphic Design intern at Rice University.
Wahlquist began his career as a Graphics Specialist for Bethel University Athletics. In over three years with the Royals, he improved the Bethel University Athletics’ social media presence to one of the most-followed Division III programs in the upper Midwest. Walhquist also established the creative direction for the partnership between Nike and Bethel Athletics via social graphics.
A native of Eden Prairie, Minn., Wahlquist graduated from Bethel University with a degree in graphic design.
