Kelsey Steinhagen joined the Golden Gopher basketball staff in 2021. 

Steinhagen came to the University of Minnesota after a four-year stint as an associate head coach at Menlo College. During her time there, Steinhagen was a part of the program's best finish in the Golden State Athletic Conference where the team made an Elite 8 appearance at the NAIA National Tournament. Working primarily with the post players, Steinhagen helped develop two NAIA All-Americans, one WBCA All-American and one All-GSAC player to conference accolades. Along with her coaching responsibilities, Steinhagen was also the recruiting coordinator, maintained the alumni database and team travel organization. 
 
Prior to her time at Menlo, Steinhagen was an assistant coach at Dubuque for four seasons from 2013-2017. During her time there, she also helped the program to a IIAC championship and a school-best 11 IIAC wins. Along with coaching the post players, Steinhagen also supervised graduate assistants and facilitated marketing outreach. She also began her coaching career at Concordia University Texas where she was an assistant coach from 2010-13. The team won the 2012 American Southwest Conference title during her time there and was the first women's sport at Concordia to appear in the NCAA Tournament. 

Steinhagen played collegiately at University Wisconsin-Stout from 2004-07. A two-time WBCA First Team All-American, Steinhagen was also a two-time WIAC Conference MVP and three-time all-region selection. She was named to the 2018 UW -Stout Hall of Fame and was also a member of the WIAC All-Time Team. In July of 2022, Steinhagen was inducted into the WIAC Hall of Fame. Steinhagen went on to play professionally for the Dandenong Rangers (WNBL) in Melbourne, Australia from 2007-08. 

Steinhagen graduated from UW-Stout in 2007 with a bachelor's degree in apparel design and development and a minor in business administration. She and her husband, Chet, have a daughter, Kameron.
