2021 Cross Country • Redshirt Junior Season: Named an Academic All-Big Ten honoree • at the NCAA Championships, posted the 17th fastest 10K time in program history and a lifetime best of 30:06.9 to finish 92nd overall and third on the team • placed 32nd overall and fifth on the team at the Regional meet • registered a personal best 5.2 Mile time at the Big Ten Championships, crossing the line 21st overall and fourth on the team in 25:25.9 • recorded a personal best 8K time of 24:42.2 at the Nuttycombe Invitational, placing 131st overall • at the Roy Griak Invitational, finished 64th overall and fifth on the team • opened the season with a 52nd place finish at the Spiked Shoe Invitational.

2020 Cross Country • Redshirt Sophomore Season: Finished 57th overall and fifth on the team in 25:44.0 at the Big Ten Cross Country Championships.

2021 Indoor Track & Field • Redshirt Sophomore Season: Competed at three meets • ran a career-best 14:31.96 to place 25th in the 5,000m at the Big Ten Indoor Championships • won the 3,000m at the Hawkeye Border Battle in a season-best 8:22.37.

2021 Outdoor Track & Field • Redshirt Sophomore Season: Competed at five meets with appearances in the 5,000m, 1,500m, 4x400m relay, and 4x1,600m relay • placed 12th in the 5,000m (14:29.26) at the Big Ten Championships • ran a career-best 14:19.81 as runner-up in the 5,000m at the M City Classic • ran a career-best 3:54.33 in the 1,500m and placed third in the 4x1,600m relay at the Illini B1G Relays.

2019 Cross Country • Redshirt Freshman Season: Earned first letter in cross country • ran four races • ran a season-best 24:59.9 for 8K as the fifth Gopher in 48th overall at the Big Ten Championships • made NCAA debut, finishing 48th overall and fourth on the team and running 32:01.6 for 10K at the NCAA Midwest Regional • placed 13th in the open race at Pre-Nationals • made Gopher debut with a 35th-place showing at the Griak Invitational in 25:41.0 for 8K.

2020 Indoor Track & Field • Redshirt Freshman Season: Ran five races • ran a season-best 4:13.89 as runner-up in the mile at the Minnesota Cold Classic • finished fifth in the mile and anchored the runner-up distance medley relay at the McCravy Memorial • ran a season-best 8:21.51 in the 3,000 meters to place 15th at the Iowa State Classic • finished fourth in the 3,000 meters at the Jack Johnson Classic • indoor season ended on March 12, 2020, when the Big Ten and NCAA announced they were ceasing competitions and championships because of COVID-19 public health concerns.

2018 Cross Country • Freshman Season: Redshirted the 2018 cross country season • ran unattached at the Griak Invitational, finishing 76th with a time of 26:20.4 for 8K • won the Fall Finale while competing unattached with an 8K time of 25:01 to become the 12th-straight Gopher to earn the individual medal at the race • won the 2018 Twin Cities 5K as an unattached competitor, clocking a time of 15:12.

2019 Indoor Track & Field • Freshman Season: Redshirted the 2019 indoor track & field season • won the Snowshoe Open mile as an unattached competitor with a time of 4:15.07 • finished second in the 3,000 meters at the Minnesota Open with a time of 8:28.52.

2019 Outdoor Track & Field • Freshman Season: Redshirted the 2019 outdoor track & field season • did not compete.

High School: A 2018 graduate of Wayzata High School • three-time individual state champion and four-time team state champion • closed out his prep career by helping the Trojans claim the 2017 MSHSL Class AA state cross country championship and the 2018 MSHSL Class AA state track & field championship • earned three individual state titles as a senior at Wayzata • led the Trojans to the state cross country title by winning the MSHSL Class AA individual crown • added two more state titles on the track in 2018 with the Class AA 3,200-meter title and the 1,600-meter title • contributed 26 of Wayzata's 75 team points to win the state track & field championship • the 2018 Star Tribune Metro Boys Track & Field Athlete of the Year • the 2017 Star Tribune Metro Boys Cross Country Runner of the Year • finished second to fellow Gopher Patrick Roos at the 2016 MSHSL Class AA state cross country meet as Wayzata picked up the team title • also scored for the Trojans as Wayzata claimed the 2016 MSHSL Class AA state track & field championship • earned All-America honors at the 2017 Nike Cross Country Nationals • competed at Wayzata for Mark Popp and Aaron Berndt.

Personal: Son of Deq Hussein and Safi Abdalla • has three siblings, Shuayb, Zakaria, and Yusuf • brother Shuayb also competes in cross country and track & field for the Gophers.
