Career Highlights
An NCAA Preliminary Meet competitor in the javelin • ranks second in school history in the event (224-6)• competed in the Big Ten Outdoor Championships in 2011.

2012 Season - Outdoor: Threw 184-09 (56.32m) in the javelin at the Aztec Invite • also competed in the javelin at the Stanford Invite with a throw of 183-7 (55.65m) • Academic All-Big Ten.

2011 Season Outdoor:competed at the Big Ten Championship in the Javelin and placed seventh (193-4) • competed at the Baldy Castillo Invitational and placed ninth in the Javelin (175-4) • threw the Javelin at the Jim Click Shootout and placed sixth (168-11) • competed at the Drake Relays and finished with a throw of 155-2 feet in the Javelin.

2010 Season - Indoor: Did not compete. Outdoor: Competed in seven meets • landed a throw of 195-0 in NCAA Prelimiary meet prelims • placed fourth in the Big Ten Championships (206-5) • finished second in the Musco Twilight Meet with a career-best effort of 224-6, the second-best throw in Gopher history • an Academic All-Big Ten honoree • earned second varsity letter.

2009 Season - Indoor: Did not compete. Outdoor: Threw in six meets • placed ninth at Big Ten Championships (187-8) • landed top throw of 201-2 to win Tom-Cat Twilight Meet • Academic All-Big Ten • varsity letterwinner.

2008 Season: Indoor: Did not compete. Outdoor: Competed in one meet before suffereing an elbow injury and declaring a medical redshirt • won the Clemson Relays javelin title with a throw of 214-9, an NCAA Regional qualifier and the third-best throw in school history • named Big Ten Field Event Athlete of the Week for performance.

High School: A 2007 graduate of Red River High School • high school coaches were Tim Tandeski, Bob Zimney, and Vyrn Muir • three-time North Dakota Class A champion in the javelin • bettered his winning mark every year, 184-0 (2005), 195-2 (2006) and 201-10 (2007) • Eastern Dakota Conference champion in the javelin as a junior and senior • holds the Class A state record for the javelin (206-6) • lettered in track and basketball three times, twice in football • all-state receiver in 2006 • a member of the National Honor Society.

Personal: Born September 18, 1988 • education major • parents are Jeff and Lisa Hoplin • father played football for the University of North Dakota • both grandfathers played college football • has younger siblings Luke, John and Bits.
