Gretchen Klinkner joined the Health & Performance staff at the University of Minnesota as an Assistant Athletic Trainer in December 2020 and works primarily with the Softball team. 
 
Klinkner attended the University of Minnesota-Duluth and graduated with a Bachelor of Applied Science in Athletic Training in 2016.  She then moved to New York and attended Syracuse University for graduate school.  She worked as a Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer with Football and Women’s Rowing, graduating in 2018 with a Master of Science in Exercise Science. 
 
Gretchen was an Athletic Training Intern with the NFL’s New York Jets in the summer of 2018, after which she joined the staff at Fordham University in Bronx, New York in October 2018.  She was the sole Athletic Trainer for Football from October 2018 – July 2019 and also worked with Softball.  She transitioned to the Assistant Athletic Trainer for Football and worked with the Cheer program and Women’s Tennis from August 2019 – December 2020.
 
Gretchen is a Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) and a MN State Licensed Athletic Trainer (LAT).   She is an American Heart Association Emergency Cardiac Care Instructor and a Sound Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (SASTM) provider. 
 
A native of Delavan, MN, Gretchen currently resides in St. Paul, MN.
